Biofuels

Biofuels are fuels made from any life form

Biomass can be turned into biofuels through a number of  processes:

  • Fermenting sugar from plants
  • converting starch to sugar
  • Converting cellulose to sugar
  • Converting biomass to synthesis gas, (syngas), by pyrolysis, then on to a liquid fuel
  • Growing a plant to produce oil
  • Growing an algae to produce oil
